I must have looked crazy bent over with my head in the sand taking a photo of a passport just inches away from the tide!
A colonial era postal collection box stands in front of the Pompey Museum of Slavery & Emancipation at Vendue House in downtown Nassau. Like all of these scattered throughout the globe, it was manufactured in Scotland.

The humidity was stifling that day in early May. My body was tired and my eardrums were sore from all the ambiance of the carnival. I was experimenting with a cheap lens in poor condition that lacked any redeeming qualities. Luckily, after walking around a bit in the heat, this opportunity came into frame.
Low lying cumulus clouds float above an atoll at “Blue Hour”. My father, born in 1938 on Cat Island, used kerosene lamps during hurricanes. All the walls in our house were painted white, and when I asked him why, he said so we could see better when the storm shutters were closed. Across from “The Caves” beach on west Bay street, a roadside vendor was selling shells and I asked if I could take a photo. The shell appears as part of the Bahamas Coat of Arms.
Throughout the Caribbean, and more widely, Commonwealth, police dress in their former British colonial era khakis or whites. This shot was taken during a brief respite from COVID lock down.
Photo was shot along West Street on the premises of the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas. Across the street is the old St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, dating back to 1886.
