  • The setting sun next to an island in The Bahamas.
$149.00$254.08 + VAT for Bahamian residents

Even though I’m not too particular about this photo, I decided to include in on my store for only one reason, this is as close to the island the sun usually gets during the summer months when the earth’s axis tilts the northern hemisphere closer.  During the winter months, the sun is far to the left and sets behind the new BahaMar resort.

  • An ocean sunset framed by sea grape trees.
$149.00$254.08 + VAT for Bahamian residents

I was supposed to be inside during the COVID lock downs.  I needed a break for my mental health and drove out here. Luckily, I wasn’t arrested.  Hindsight is 20/20 but its clear that there was an overreaction by politicians to this pandemic.  It was actually wonderful not seeing another human being, because nature recovered beautifully.  The air was cleaner and the animal populations roamed freely.  The marine life came very close to shore.

I have attended services here in the past and loved the unleavened communion bread.  Before the building of Margaritaville, the priest used to take the congregation down to the ocean on some occasions like baptisms and the end of Lent.

$149.00$254.08 + VAT for Bahamian residents

Its easy to get nice photos on Cabbage Beach, and I often look at the sepia images from the 19th Century when people came here in what would be considered formal dress with parasols for the women and top hats for the men.

A favorite of mine from the “Oh Andros” restaurant at Arawak Cay. If you don’t want the rice to be sticky, be sure to use parboiled rice, browning or tomato paste, brown pigeon peas, precooked pieces of minced bacon, green bell pepper, thyme and some luck.

$149.00$254.08 + VAT for Bahamian residents

When I was a little boy, my mother told me I’d go off on adventures by myself and return with a handful of flowers to give to her. I don’t remember this but it’s nice to know. I had no idea the amount of hard work it takes to get a simple photo of a flower.

  • Ruins of the Chipman Estate, off West Bay Street in Nassau, Bahamas.
$149.00$254.08 + VAT for Bahamian residents

Many migrants occupy this area, either in the ruins of the estate or in the bushes nearby. I was walking my dog in this area and suddenly a government bus pulled up aside and the driver asked if I was a Bahamian citizen. Strangely, all it took for this man to drive away was for me to say yes.

  • The ruins of a dwelling on Cumberland Street in Nassau, Bahamas.
$149.00$254.08 + VAT for Bahamian residents

I can’t help but imagine that this used to be a dwelling of some sort, now being reclaimed by nature.  Perhaps it served as storage for the hotels at the front of the property, or perhaps this is where the laundry was washed.  Maybe it served as servants’ quarters.

$149.00$254.08 + VAT for Bahamian residents

This property is part of the Four Seasons resort, which owns the Ocean Club.  I plan to go back and photograph the Cloisters.  I took many photos of the area but they were all lost when I mistakenly erased a storage card.
