How it was made.
This photograph was a happy accident. I was recording video for my website, but the wind was so high that my face ended up getting sandblasted and the flower would not stay anchored. There was a lull in the gusts that allowed me to place the poinciana bud and I took the shot. The sand felt like hundreds of pinpricks, but I took the concept and made it the emblem for my company.

When I was a little boy, my mother told me I’d go off on adventures by myself and return with a handful of flowers to give to her. I don’t remember this but it’s nice to know. I had no idea the amount of hard work it takes to get a simple photo of a flower.

Also called Plumeria obtusa, Singapore graveyard flower and commonly, Frangipani.
Photo was taken at the top of Orange Hill and is dedicated to my late mother, Kendra.
Low lying cumulus clouds float above an atoll at “Blue Hour”. My father, born in 1938 on Cat Island, used kerosene lamps during hurricanes. All the walls in our house were painted white, and when I asked him why, he said so we could see better when the storm shutters were closed. Some wisdom is always lost with the passing of older generations. If you have time, please take a minute to read “Those Winter Sundays” by Robert Hayden. Thanks dad, for polishing my shoes when no one was looking.
