I was able to make this photo after many failed attempts over several days.  I knew the image I had in my mind but the light wasn’t cooperating. Finally on a chilly winter day in February, the sky was cloud free and I was able to complete my vision.

I found this tree a short distance from where Bahamian veterans of both World Wars are buried in the mausoleum dedicated to their service on Infant View Road. The tree is a poinciana that has lost all its foliage for the cooler months, soon to return to full bloom with beautiful flowers. I decided to color the photo to illustrate the horrors of The Great War and the conflict to follow.  Arendt called it the Banality of Evil.

I was supposed to be inside during the COVID lock downs.  I needed a break for my mental health and drove out here. Luckily, I wasn’t arrested.  Hindsight is 20/20 but its clear that there was an overreaction by politicians to this pandemic.  It was actually wonderful not seeing another human being, because nature recovered beautifully.  The air was cleaner and the animal populations roamed freely.  The marine life came very close to shore.
